After many a beer shared in Florida when coming to visit the infamous Andy Charles, Lee was ever so kind to take me out on the water today and show me around Portland on his boat, the Grace. We had gorgeous weather and the water was like glass. While Seal Rock disappointed us and was empty of its namesakes, we did see two seals pop their heads up from the water as we cruised along taking in the sites.

I'd put up the pics I snapped of seal #2, but to be honest, to you they'd just look like blobs. *I* know that it's a seal, but to you...eh. You'd call me a liar.

This guy though is the Portland Head Light Lighthouse. It's the oldest lighthouse in Maine and was completed in 1791. It's also the most photographed lighthouse in the world. For reals, yo.

I felt very important and wealthy viewing it from on my own private boat tour with my own private Captain while the peasants milled about on land. This funemployment thing is going well so far.

After boating I headed to downtown Portland to walk around a bit and explore. I had previously been told that it's become pretty commercialized in Portland, so I'm only staying a night here. What I really want to do in Maine is spend my time outdoors, and that's coming up next in Acadia/Bar Harbor. But since I'm here, I may as well have some chowdah, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

Final stop before finally heading to my AirBNB was a local brewery for a local IPA. I mean, did you really think I was going to go to New England and NOT have some New England IPAs? Brickyard Hollow's Latchstring DIPA didn't disappoint.

Such a great day in Portland. Great company, great weather, great chowdah, great beer!

The next three nights I'll be camping and will likely be devoid of wifi unless I bring my laptop into town which is...unlikely. So, catch up with y'all when I'm in Canada!
