Days 15 - 18: 575 miles, destination Toronto, Canada

80 miles, destination Niagara Falls, Canada

Total miles: 3645

I was sooo excited to get to Toronto. The AirBNB I booked was right downtown, was chic AF, and had amazing views. Well, *that* experience did *not* go as planned. I'll do a whole different post on that, but the phrase 'shit show' is appropriate. I will say though that there still was a cool view. Stay tuned for the recap of that experience in a later post!

I had expected to check in to my AirBNB, drop my bags, and go explore around 4:00 PM the day I arrived. Given the long and frustrating check in process, by the time I actually got settled where I ended up staying, it was 6:30 PM and I was tired, cranky, and hungry. Instead of doing anything in the city I ordered an obscene amount of Chinese food and watched 'Indian Matchmaking' on Netflix. Sidebar - if you haven't watched it, do. It's so interesting and the second season just dropped.

I mean yeah, it has a view. I damn near mentally fell off moving over to get the picture of the CN Tower, the struggle (with vertigo) is real my friends.

I slow rolled the next morning due to weather - lots of rain and fog - and went exploring in the early afternoon. I checked out the downtown area a bit, but I focused my exploring on the Kensington Market area and Chinatown.

The area had lots of cool and colorful murals and kitchy shops. There was an overabundance of thrift/resale shops as well. Super weird being in Toronto and seeing a Flyers jersey for sale in a random thrift store, but c'est la vie.

Went on a little food adventure and tried this weird hotdog on a stick concoction. It was surprisingly good! Cronchy! It was covered in this crispy rice batter (think Rice Krispies, not rice you'd eat at dinner). There were a bunch of flavor and topping options, but I was a little scardy pants and tried something basic. Next time I'd let them pick and be more adventurous!

Last stop for the day was to hit up the Jays/Rays game. All day I had been taking shots of the CN Tower as the fog dissipated, but little did I know that the best shot of all was going to be at the game! Before anyone asks if I went up it, no I did not. I would have hated it. I did the Sears Tower years ago and could barely deal with it. Given that I could barely go out on my balcony, which was only on floor twenty five, there was no way I was going up this monster and walking out onto a glass floor. That ain't me, I'm not about that life. #sorrynotsorry

And that's my time in Toronto! Very short. It wasn't supposed to be, I planned to spend my first night there exploring, but the AirBNB gods had different plans for me.

The next morning I got up and headed to Niagara Falls. Before I left on my trip I bought a Niagara Pass that would, among other things, give me access to the White Water Walk. Well, guess what was closed? Yup, you guessed it, the WWW. Le sigh. Other than seeing the Falls themselves, that was the only other thing I wanted to do there, so it was a short trip to Niagara for me. I'm still glad I went, it's breathtaking. And yes, I would have made the drive even if I had known that the WWW was closed, the Falls themselves are just that gorgeous. So here are some of my favorite shots from my time there...click through to see them all.
